MALVERN — The Bryant Hornets junior varsity defense foiled a two-point conversion attempt with a minute left in the game to secure a 14-12 win over the Malvern Leopards JV on Monday night.
Bryant assistant coach Clint Shadwick listed Antonio Todd, Johnny Wallace and Nick Smith among the defensive standouts in the game.
On offense, Brandon Murray rushed for 107 yards on 15 carries including a 10-yard touchdown run to cap a 60-yard drive to open the game. Jamil Johnson tossed a pass to Matthew Sandidge for the two-point conversion.
In the third quarter, Jakalon Pittman scored on a speed sweep from 20 yards out.
“It was a good win and a great way to start the JV season,” Shadwick said.
The JV is scheduled to play again on Monday, Sept. 21 at Hot Springs Lakeside while a sophomore team heads to Benton for a game that night.
