Beaux Bonvillain threw two touchdown passes and Devon Davis had two interceptions including one he returned for a TD as the Bryant Hornets’ junior varsity team won its first game of the season, 29-20, over the Pine Bluff Zebras’ JV.
Bonvillain connected with Austin Kelly on a 50-yard strike for 6 then threw a 20-yard TD toss to Najee Hunt.
Davis’ interception return covered 60 yards.
“It was a great game overall,” said Hornets coach Clint Shadwick.
“Nathan Mays had a couple of quarterback hurries and sacks along with Austin Blacklaw,” he reported. “Peyton Robertson made some big stops from his linebacker position.
“Offensively, Beaux played a great game at quarterback,” the coach said. “Running backs Cameron Coleman and DeAmonte Terry also had good games running the ball. Seth Tucker scored on an outside zone run for 40 yards.”
In addition, Shadwick mentioned, Hayden Ray was 3 for 3 on extra points and also sent a kickoff into the end zone for a touchback.
The Bryant JV will play again on Monday, Sept. 15, at Little Rock Catholic.
