TEXARKANA — Jason Hastings and Devin Dupree combined on a two-hit shutout over five innings and Blake Patterson ripped a pair of doubles as the Bryant Hornets junior varsity claimed a 3-0 win over the Arkansas High Razorbacks JV on Friday night.
Hastings, after pitching a pair of perfect innings of relief to pick up a save on Thursday against Sheridan, allowed just two hits over the first three innings on Friday. He fanned three. Dupree finished up allowing only a walk over the final two frames. Five of the six outs he recorded came on strikes.
At the plate, Justin Emmerling and Dylan Hurt each had doubles. Each drove in a run. Logan Allen and Connor Tatum pitched in with singles. Tatum knocked one in.
The game was scoreless until the third when Patterson lashed his second double with one out and Emmerling traded places with him with a two-bagger off a drive to center.
In the fourth, Jake East and Allen drew one-out walks and, after East swiped third, Tatum slapped a single to left to drive him in.
In the fifth, Emmerling walked, took second on a passed ball and scored on Hurt’s shot into the left-field corner for an RBI double.
Texarkana’s lone threat came in the bottom of the second when the Razorbacks managed both of their hits, singles on either side of a sacrifice bunt. A balk allowed the run to score from third before Hastings got the third out on a grounder to Nick Kehrees at third.
The Hornet JV has now won all 15 of its games this season.
