The Bryant Hornets will be the number four seed in the West Conference for the Class 7A State Tournament in Conway next week and the Bryant Lady Hornets will garner a sixth seed among the West girls with a win over El Dorado or a Rogers Heritage loss to crosstown rival Rogers on Tuesday.
The State Tournament begins on Wednesday, March 5, at Buzz Bolding Arena in Conway.
Bryant travels to El Dorado for the final playing date of the regular season. Both teams could use a win as they’ve been staggering down the stretch. The Hornets, who escaped with a one-point win over the Wildcats at home on Jan. 31, have won just once since then, going 1-5.
The Lady Hornets have lost four in row after back-to-back wins to start the second half of the South Conference season. They face one of the best teams in the state, though the Lady Wildcats lost back-to-back games to co-league leaders (now), Benton and Pine Bluff.
At State, as the four seed, the Hornets will open against the fifth-seeded team from the Central, which has yet to be determined, at 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 5. Their opponent will most likely be from a group that includes Cabot, West Memphis, Conway or Little Rock Central.
As a sixth seed, the Lady Hornets would open State on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Their opponent will most likely be Fort Smith Northside, North Little Rock or West Memphis.
