Joe Sartini won the 800 meter run and contributed a leg to the Bryant Hornets freshman team’s victorious 4×800 relay effort on Tuesday at the Junior Hornet Relays at Bryant Stadium.
The Hornets finished third with 62 points in the 19-team event. Lake Hamilton won the meet with 111 points. Cabot South was second with 87.
The Bryant B team picked up 8 points and the Bethel Middle School eighth grade team scored 3. The Bryant Middle School eighth grade team also competed.
Sartini ran a 2:14.60 to win the 800. In the relay, he joined John Carder, Edgar Juarez and Christian McIntosh to post a winning time of 9:27.82.
Devon Davis finish second in the 400 for Bryant, turning in a 56.26. Teammate Malik Dockery was third in 56.51. That duo combined with Nathan Mayes and Kaleb Turner to take third in the 4×400 relay. They finished in 4:00.72.
Davis teamed up with Phillip Isom-Green, Nathan Mayes and Turner to take fifth in the 4×100 in 48.59.
In the shot, Isom-Green finished second to account for the B team points. His toss went 44’11”, while Madre Dixon threw 42’9” to finish fourth.
Dixon’s fling of 123’8” was good for third in the discus. Bethel picked up points from Kobi Riffe who was seventh with a throw of 114’11”.
Carder ran a 5:08.34 to finish fourth in the 1600. McIndosh was eighth in 5:16.77.
The Hornets picked up eighth-place points from Juarez in the 800 (2:24.06).
Bethel’s 4×800 relay team scored an eighth-place finish in 10:01.16 with Jhorman Cruz, Drew Upton, Ricky Barrientos and Colby Harvey teaming up.
The Bryant freshmen will run again on Tuesday, April 1, at Hot Springs Lakeside
Bethel’s seventh grade team competes at Conway on Monday, March 31, with the eighth grader squad heading to Conway on April 3.
Bryant Middle School’s next competition is scheduled for March 26 at Conway.
