PEARCY — The Bryant Hornets freshman track team finished fifth with 57 points in the championship track meet of the South Division of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference Saturday at Lake Hamilton High School.
Cabot South won top team honors with 162 points followed by North Little Rock with 151 1/3, Lake Hamiton (109 1/3), Conway Blue (74), Bryant, Benton (45) and Sheridan (22 1/3).Bryant, by school rule, competed with only freshmen while other teams in the meet added seventh- and eight-grade athletes to deepen their teams.[more]
The Hornets’ effort included a second place finish for Stoney Stevens in the 400 meter run. He finished in 55.51.He also contributed a leg to the 4×100 meter relay team that also finished second, joining Hunter Schelle, Austin Wadley and Hunter Berry on a time of 47.65.
In the 4×400, the Hornets quartet of Berry, Josh Keyes, Wadley and Stevens finished fifth in a time of 3:55.52.
Rodrigo Rodarte finished third in the 1600 and fifth in the 800 for the Hornets. He finished the 1600 in 5:04.21 with teammate Damian Kropp seventh in 5:19.52. In the 800, Rodarte ran a 2:19.63.
Schelle contributed third-place points in the 300 hurdles, running a 44.35. He was sixth in the 110 hurdles in 18.68.
Wadley contributed a sixth in the 100 (12:39) and an eighth in the 200 (25.42).
Tim Kelley pitched in with a fourth in the shot with a toss of 40’9”. He was seventh in the discus at 116’4”.
Keyes contributed a seventh in the pole vault, clearing 9’6” while the team of Tyler Hayden, James Tyhurst, Jacob Stringer and Brandon Caple ran a 10:38.17 in the 4×800 to garner sixth-place points.
