BENTON — Quarterback Jaret Jacobs rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown and passed for 86 yards and[more] a score to lead the Bryant Hornets freshman B team to an 18-6 win over Benton Panthers freshman B team on Tuesday night.
The Bryant defense came up with three sacks and eight tackles for lost yardage. Cody Tazelaar intercepted a pass with a minute left to play to put the finishing touches on the victory.
Tyler Dedmon rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Jordan Gentry caught four passes for 72 yards and the score on a 45-yard throw from Jacobs.
Dedmon opened the scoring with a 35-yard TD run. After the touchdown pass, Jacobs broke a 70-yard run to set up the second score. He eventually snuck it in from the 1.
The B team is scheduled to play Little Rock Hall at Bryant Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
