FAYETTEVILLE — Tyler Green fired a one-under 69 on the second day of the Class 7A State[more] golf championship tournament at Fayetteville Country Club to lead the Bryant Hornets to a fourth-place finish overall on Tuesday.
Conway won the title with Bentonville second and Fayetteville third followed by the Hornets who finished at 309 for the day and 615 for the 36-hole tournament.
Green finished tied for third place in the individual standings. He and two other golfers had to play a sudden-death hole-by-hole playoff. He was unable to overcome a tee shot that went too far right and into the trees. So he just missed qualifying for a berth in the State Overall championship tournament at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock.
Austin Harmon had the Hornets second-best score on the day, finishing at 76. Nick Canale shot an 81, Ashton Green an 83 and Chase Thornton carded a 91. All of the Hornets golfers are underclassmen.
