The Bryant White Hornets eighth grade basketball team of Bryant Middle School outscored the Sheridan Stingers eighth grade team 10-0 in the second quarter on their way to a 38-17 season-opening win at the BMS gym on Tuesday night.
Kajuan Robinson pumped in 12 points to lead the victors. Blaise Smith added 8 points and Jesse Windemaker 5.
The Hornets led 8-4 after a quarter then took off and left the Stingers, building an 18-4 lead by halftime. It was 32-11 by the end of the third quarter.
“I thought that we played pretty well considering we’ve only had four practices,” said Hornets coach Heath Long. “Offensively, we did a good job of moving the basketball and getting it inside against their zone. And the defense was very good, especially from the second quarter on.”
Bryant White is set to return to action on Monday at a tournament in North Little Rock.
