LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Hornets B team (mostly freshmen) swept another doubleheader on Tuesday, March 9, improving to 9-0 on the season. The Hornets won their first game 14-4 in six innings over the Little Rock Central Tigers B team, then took the nightcap 3-1 in five frames.[more]
In the opener, Blaine Jackson went 4 for 4 with three doubles and Hayden Daniel was 4 for 5 with a two-bagger. Winning pitcher Marcus Wilson helped his own cause with a pair of hits including a double as well.
Wilson pitched the first three innings and surrendered four runs on four hits. Daniel got the save with three scoreless innings of relief on two hits.
In the second game, Josh Davis drove in two runs with a first-inning single in support of Seth Alkire who pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits. Zach Cambron worked the fourth inning when Central managed to get its run across. Riley Hall finished the game on the mound for Bryant, striking out the side in the fifth.
The Hornets B team is set to return to action with a twinbill at Lake Hamilton on Saturday, March 13.
