CABOT — On the first day of the 2015 Arkansas Heptathlon Wednesday, three Bryant athletes placed in the top 25 led by Haley Hood, a junior, who was 13th with 2,158 points. Sophomore Jadyn Lewis was 20th with 1,995 points and senior Jayla Anderson was 23rd with 1,931 points.
The Heptathlon includes seven events over two days. On Wednesday, the 71 competitors ran the 100-meter hurdles and the 200 as well as competing in the long jump and the discus throw. Today, they’ll engage in the high jump, shot put and the 800-meter run to finish up.
Hood ran a 16.85 in the hurdles, covered 16’1 ¾” in the long jump, threw 64’7 1/4” in the discus and ran a 26.74 in the 200.
Lewis turned in an 18.84 in the hurdles, leapt 16’4 ¾” in the long jump, tossed the discus 67’3 ¾” in the discus and ran 26.62 in the 200.
Anderson finished the hurdles in 16.95, went 14’11 ¼” in the long jump, threw the discus 64’4 ¾” and finished the 200 in 28.17.
Each of the Bryant trio scored more points in the 200.
Cabot’s talented twins Lexi and Tori Weeks were first and third, respectively, after the first day. Lexi Weeks had 2,760 points. Jada Baylark of Little Rock Parkview was second with 2,701 points and Tori Weeks was third with 2,588. Asia Anderson of Pulaski Robinson was fourth at 2,486 with Clinton’s Allie Hendley rounding out the top 10 with 2,479 points.
