CABOT — Callie Hogancamp and Whitney Butler each won the top girls singles matches to highlight the Bryant High School tennis team’s competition against Cabot on Thursday, Sept. 23.
Hogancamp defeated Cabot’s Emma Baird at No. 1 girls singles, 8-0. Butler took the No. 2 singles match against Kristen Sumler, 8-5.[more]
Cabot prevailed in both girls doubles matches and all four of the primary matches among the boys. At No. 1 doubles, Sumler and Maggie Furton defeated Bryant’s Erica Pounders and Emma Patrick, 8-1. At No. 2 doubles, Baird and Cori Fair won 8-2 over Bryant’s Amy Bucks and Sarah Leguieu.
In another singles match, Furton outlasted Bryant’s Kristen Dudley, 8-6.
In boys action, Cabot’s Matt McCollough won the No. 1 singles match, 8-4, over Bryant’s Kyle Nossaman. The No. 2 singles match went to Mitchell Turk, 8-3, over Cade Howard.
In doubles, Cabot’s Eric Bontempo and Colton Johnson prevailed over Bryant’s Cody Higgins and Murphy Maynard, 8-1. At No. 2, Will Otter and Jordan Sumler eased to an 8-0 win over Bryant’s Malik Flint and Nick Ross.
In other singles matches, Cabot’s Drew Myers beat Bryant Denard Rhee, 8-3, but the Hornets’ Matt Brown took an 8-4 decision over Logan Kihal.
Bryant’s Justin Travis and Dalton Lane won a doubles match against Vidal Lopez and Sam Otter, 9-7.
Bryant was set to play Little Rock Central at Rebsamen Park this evening before wrapping up the regular season on Thursday against North Little Rock at Burns Park.
The conference tournament is Friday, Oct. 10, at Rebsamen.
