PEARCY — Zhania Hall won the 400-meter dash and contributed to a pair of winning relay teams to lead the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman track and field team to a fourth-place finish at the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference championship meet at Lake Hamilton High School on Thursday.
The Lady Hornets accumulated 68 points. Lake Hamilton won with 138.5 points, narrowly edging Conway White with 134 points. Russellville was third with 109. Cabot North was fifth (54.5) followed by Conway Blue (53), Benton (34), Cabot South (20) and North Little Rock (12).
Hall’s winning time in the 400 was 1:00.62 with teammate Maggie Laws finishing eighth in 1:05.58.
Both Hall and Laws were in the 4×800 relay team and the 4×400 team that picked up victories. In the 4×800, Megan Lee and Bailey Brazil helped produce a time of 10:36.25. Cabot North was second at 10:47.27).
In the 4×400, it was Hall, Laws, Lee and Cassie Ray running a 4:20.21 to win over Cabot North’s 4:23.57.
Brazil added a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:39.05, just off the pace of Conway White’s Avery Tribett at 2:36.00. In the 1600, Brazil ran a 5:57.55 to finish sixth.
In the 4×100 relay, Kristin Garner, Charlotte Guevara and Yonni Allen teamed up with Ray to run a 53.47, good for third.
Ray was fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.24 while Lee took fourth in the triple jump, covering 31’11. Allen was eighth at 31’2”.
Garner cleared 8’0” to finish fifth in the pole vault. Laws got over at 7’0” to take eighth.
Seventh-place points were earned by Malori Pendergrass and Andrea Thomas. Pendergrass’ came in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.81 while Thomas’ came in the discus throw with a toss of 81’3.5”.
