Students in Bryant Freshman Academy Keystone classes will assist veterans from the Arkansas Freedom Fund with the school’s rope course on Thursday, May 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Keystone is a required class for Bryant freshman. The class uses experiential activities to build a stronger student community and includes the development of academic, career, and personal skills. The ropes course reinforces the principles taught in class: responsibility, communication, synergy, and empathy. Students learn to push past their comfort zones and go beyond what they think they are capable of doing.
Arkansas Freedom Fund encourages veterans to stay strong through activity, no matter where they are on their journey, or what injuries they may have.
Students will team with veterans to conquer the climbing wall and high elements within the course. These activities are designed to foster teamwork and cooperation while enhancing communication and problem solving skills.
“Our students are so excited to work with the Arkansas Freedom Fund,” said Tim Hall, BHS Keystone instructor. “These heroes, who have served our country with honor and distinction, will help teach our students about planning and execution. In turn, we hope to encourage confidence and a sense of accomplishment in them.”
The Bryant ropes course was developed in the mid-90’s and is a vital part of the Keystone curriculum.
