Freshman Charlie Terry finished the new cross country course at Bishop Park in a time of 10:53 to edge[more] junior Tyler Purtle by :04 to take individual honors at the Bryant Hornets’ annual intrasquad meet on Tuesday.
However, Purtle and the Blue team took team honors with 906 points. The Black team, led by sophomore Connor Wilson finished second with 1064 points with Terry and the White team third with 1103.
Wilson finished in 11:31, the third best time individually. Junior Clifton Hampton of the White team was fourth in 11:46 just edging sophomore Black team member Jim Dellorto (fifth in 11:48).
Sophomore Mark Winn of the Black squad was sixth in 11:53 followed by Blue’s Nicholas Schmidt, another sophomore, in 11.59. Soph Dru Wen (12:01) was eighth for the Blue team followed by the White’s Ben Majors (12:05), the second freshman finisher. Junior Dylan Masters of the Black team finished out the top 10 with a time of 12:27.
In all, there were 84 competitors in the race from freshmen to seniors.
The Hornets’ first meet in earnest will be Saturday, Sept. 8, the Ouachita Baptist University Invitational in Arkadelphia.
