CONWAY — The growing pains for the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman volleyball continued Thursday night when they got off to a rough start at Conway White and, though they played tougher in the second game, wound up losing in straight sets, 11-25, 21-25.
It was the fourth loss in a row for the struggling Lady Hornets, who will try to bounce back against the rival Benton Lady Panthers at home on Monday, Sept. 21. It’ll be the start of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference season.
Bryant only missed three of its 33 serves. Madi Draper, who was good on all 10 of her serves, had the lone ace for the Lady Hornets. Meagan Chism got in all eight of her serves.
The team also struggled to score at the net where they only had five kills, two each by Faith Stone and Kristin Boyle with Jenna Vos adding the fifth. Boyle and Vos also had blocks.
Conway’s aggressive front line left the Lady Hornets digging up a lot of hits. In 61 opportunities, they dug up 47. Chism led with 10. Draper and Lindsey Maxwell had six each. Cassie Ray five.
