CABOT — After a tough trip to Russellville on Monday, the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team enjoyed a little more success on their visit to Cabot South on Thursday, coming away with a 25-22, 25-14 win.
It was the team’s third win in the last four matches. They’ll wrap up the regular season at Conway White on Monday, Oct. 17, before hosting the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference tournament starting Saturday, Oct. 22.
“The girls played well all around,” said Bryant coach Lawrence Jefferson of the win over Cabot. “It was a really good effort. We had some really good passes and sets for our hitters tonight. Good passing wins matches.”
The result was 18 kills in the match with seven different players cashing in led by Grace Sams with four. Kalina Weaver and Lexi Brown each had nine assists and the Lady Hornets only had two serve-receive errors on the night.
Brooke Abney, Truili Bates and Grace Camferdam each had three kills. Camille Rawls and Casey Welch added two apiece and Brown had one.
Bryant was good on 44 of 48 serves. Erin Thompson had two aces as she got in all nine of her serves. Kiarra Beard was good on all 14 of her serves and had an ace. Brown, Weaver and Sams each had an ace.
Bates finished with three solo bocks and Welch had one. Sams contributed 14 digs, Beard 10 and Cora Edwards eight.
