CONWAY — Led by Amanda Burt’s third-place finish in the 300 meter hurdles, the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team accumulated 32 points to finish sixth at the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference championship meet on Thursday.
Lake Hamilton won the team title with 139 points. Russellville was second with 129.
As usual, Bryant entered only freshmen in the competition while the other eight schools deployed seventh, eighth and ninth grade athletes and, in every event, a seventh and/or eighth grader scored points.
“Our girls did a great job,” said Lady Hornets coach Beth Solomon. “I thought our girls worked really, really hard. They knew it was their last meet and worked probably the hardest they have. Several of the girls set new personal records.”
Burt ran a 52.25 in the hurdles. She also contributed a leg to the 4×100 relay joining Tziyah Fisher, Camari Dodds and Zeian Robinson on a 56.44, which garnered sixth-place.
Robinson, Fisher and Dodds along with Emma Kinder ran a 4:46.64 in the 4×400 to finish sixth.
Kaycee White and Robinson both scored in two individual events. White was fifth in the discus with a throw of 85’5”. She was sixth in the shot put with a heave of 34’0.75”. Robinson took sixth in both the 100 and 400. In the former, she ran a 13.93. In the later, she finished in 1:05.35.
Alyssa Rowland cleared seven feet in the pole vault to add fifth-place points for Bryant. She also contributed to the 4×800 relay team, which finished sixth in 11:33.91. Lauren Hart, Carissa Colclasure and Camryn Bolton ran legs as well.
