Monday around 5:30 p.m., the Bryant Police Department responded to the Saline Memorial Hospital emergency room after receiving a call about a 5-year old boy that had been brought in after being struck by a vehicle at a residence in Bryant.
A 37-year-old resident told police that he was at his house on Derek Court and needed to move his girlfriend’s car so he could wash it. As he began to move the car, he ran over the child in the street. The resident said that when he realized what had happened, he stopped the car and immediately ran and checked on the child. After seeing how bad his condition was, he put the child in the car and drove to the ER.
The injuries that were sustained from being run over were fatal and the child was pronounced dead at the Saline Memorial ER. Due to investigators still working the case, the child’s name is not being released at this time.
