Eleven players contributed to the scoring led by Catrell Wallace’s game-high 11 points as the Bryant White Hornets of Bryant Middle School forged a 41-22 win over their rivals and future teammates the Bryant Blue Hornets of Bethel Middle School in an eighth grade game at Bryant Middle School gym.
White, behind 8 points from Wallace, rushed to a 14-3 lead by the end of the first quarter. Blue’s scoring struggles continued in the second quarter as White built the lead to 23-7 by halftime. Ahmad Adams had 5 points including 3 of 4 free throws in the second period.
Ethan Hilkret, who led Blue with 9 points in the game, scored 4 in the third quarter to go with a 3 by Brayden Knight but White led 33-14 going into the fourth quarter.
Kaylon Thurston came off the bench to score 4 points in the fourth quarter for Bryant White.
Adams finished with 7 points for White. Darrick Rose added 5 while Thurston and Colby Washington pitched in with 4 apiece. Daniel Washington had 3. Tre’Vun Herron and O.J. Newburn scored 2 each. Tristan Butler, Logan New and Arlon Jenkins had a free throw apiece.
For Blue, Knight and Ben Devine each hit 3’s. Brooks Bishop and Kayleb West added 2 points each and River Holland 1.
Bryant Blue is set to return to action tonight at Lake Hamilton before wrapping up the season against Conway White on Thursday, Feb. 11. Bryant White concludes its campaign at home against Russellville this Thursday, Feb. 4.
