The Bryant White Hornets of Bryant Middle School rushed to a 17-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back on the way to a 56-22 victory over the Bryant Blue Hornets of Bethel Middle School in a boys seventh-grade game at Bethel’s gym on Thursday night.
Cori Nichols scored 18 points and Chris Gannaway had 8 for Bryant White. Jackson Fluger led Bryant Blue with 8 points, all in the third quarter. James Bullingsley had 6.
“I thought we came out and played outstanding defense,” said Bryant White coach John Harrison. “Our kids are quick and athletic and they like to run so that’s what we do.
“Braylen Montgomery, Jordan Knox and Antonio Cage played with high energy in our press,” he noted. “All our guys got in and saw action and played well.”
Bryant White’s lead grew to 33-10 by halftime. It was 51-20 going into the fourth quarter.
Montgomery scored 6 points for White. Jaylon Brown and Josh Rice scored 4 each. Jordan Whittaker hit a 3 and Knox scored 3.
For Bryant Blue, Gage Horn scored 3 with Chaney Crosby, Aiden Baker and Colm Taylor scoring 2 each.
