LITTLE ROCK — Tanner Ezell drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Bryant Blue Hornets of[more] Bethel Middle School a 33-32 victory over the Rose City Chiefs on Friday night.
The victory, which improved the Hornets to 5-1 on the season, puts them into the eighth grade championship game of the Wildcat Shootout at Episcopal Collegiate Academy.
The Hornets trailed much of the game. Rose City held a 15-12 edge after a quarter and was up 18-17 at the half. The game was tied 25-25 going into the fourth quarter then the Chiefs held a 32-30 lead before Ezell’s cluch triple.
Jordan Gentry led the Hornets with 13 points. Evan Lee added 6. Ezell and Grayson Ruple finished with 5 apiece. Logan Allen and Jacob Pipkin pitched in with 2 each.
The Hornets were set to take on the host team in the championship game today at 4 p.m., hoping to avenge their lone loss of the season.
