MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Just like the Bryant Black Sox Senior American Legion team, the Everett Black Sox Junior squad has advanced to bracket play at the Keith Hagan Memorial All American wood bat tournament. The Senior Sox are playing in the 18-and-under division while Everett is in the 16-and-under division.
The Junior Sox went 3-1 in the abbreviated pool play schedule. They defeated the Rawlings Arkansas Prospects, 3-0, on Friday, June 27. After the rainstorms of the weekend, they returned to action on Monday with a 6-3 win over Vision Baseball of DeSoto County, Miss., 6-3. On Tuesday, the Sox suffered a 7-3 loss to the St. Louis Gamers’ Gray team. But they bounced back to knock off the Ontario Blue Jays’ Red team, 15-3, to qualify for bracket play, which includes eight teams.
The Junior Sox are set to play Arkansas Express at 10:30 a.m. With a win, they’d play again at 3:30, against the winner of a game between the Houston Heat and Elite Sports Academy of Lebanon, Tenn.
The championship game is at 6 p.m.
Details of the games will be posted when the team returns on Thursday.
