The final touches are being put on Bishop Park off of Boone Road.
The Bryant Parks and Recreation staff has been working non-stop in a non-rainy week to take a large step towards its completion date expected sometime in October. The park is in the final stages of getting the scoreboards on the fields operational and the fencing up, as well as getting the aquatics center ready.[more]
"We're in the completion stage of the scoreboards and the ball fields right now," said Derek Phillips, of the Parks and Recreation department. "The playground, the splash pad and the pavilions are down the road like the City Council voted for so we're looking at a grand opening in October."
Currently, the Community Center at Bishop Park is open for workouts, meetings and basketball games. There is also an indoor track facility for those who like to walk or jog.
"We're on schedule," Phillips said. "The Parks committee said they were shooting for mid-October and with no more rain, the stuff is really going to get done."
This week, the Bryant Parks and Recreation Department is busy preparing Mills Park for the annual Fall Fest that begins on Friday and lasts throughout the weekend.
