Diamond Sports has announced the addition of Kevin Sheredy and the return of Jay Sawatski to[more] its staff of instructors.
Sheredy is a graduate of East Kentwood High School in Kentwood,Mich. After being a three-sport athlete in high school, he started his college career at the University of Arkansas in 1994. After two years with the Razorbacks, Sheredy moved to the West Coast to finish his collegiate career at UCLA.
From there, he was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball draft. After playing professionally for 9 seasons, including time spent with the Arkansas Travelers and Memphis Redbirds, Sheredy served as an assistant coach at Little Rock Catholic High School. He also spent the fall working with the Arkansas Baseball Academy as their lead pitching instructor. He will be giving baseball pitching lessons at Diamond Sports.
Sawatski pitched and played first base at Pulaski Academy, where he was named to the All-Conference team four times and the All-State team twice. As a left-handed pitcher at the University of Arkansas, he helped lead the Razorbacks to the College World Series in 2004.
For the past five years, Sawatski has pitched in the Minnesota Twins system. He returns to Diamond Sports after completing his degree at the University of Arkansas. He currently works as a sports agent for BBI Sports Group.
The duo joins a Diamond Sports staff of instructors led by Pat Harrison that includes Devin Hurt, Keith Horn, Boyd Goodner, Kaci Landers, and Carl Martinous.
