Kicker Jace Denker and wide receiver/defensive back/ kick returner Dillon Winfrey have been chosen[more] to represent the Bryant Hornets and the 7A/6A-Central Conference in the 57th annual Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star game to be played Thursday, June 21 at Reynolds Razorback Stadium on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.
Denker and Winfrey will play on the East squad coached by Randy Coleman of Jonesboro with assistance from Lanny Dauksch of West Memphis, Chris Hill of Wynne, Steve Janski of Heber Springs, Roddy Mote of Harding Academy, Scott Waymire of Carlise and Perry Darby of Jonesboro.
The West all-stars will be coach by former Bryant head coach and alum Daryl Patton of Fayetteville. Among Patton’s assistants will be former Bryant offensive coordinator Jared McBride of Hot Springs Lakeside.
Winfrey and Denker were both all State selections and Winfrey was a finalist for the statewide Landers Award. He caught 43 passes for 640 yards and eight touchdowns during his senior season. He had three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown and broke up 10 passes. He was in on 63 tackles, eight for losses. As a kickoff return man, he averages over 26 yards per return.
Denker scored 69 points in 2011, was 42 of 43 on extra points with eight field goals including game-winners against Cabot and Conway.
