The Bryant White Hornets seventh grade team of Bryant Middle School held Cabot North to just 9 points on their way to the 21-9 win on Tuesday night. And, in a B game, the Hornets earned a 34-16 win.
In the A game, the Hornets burst out to an 8-1 lead by the end of the first quarter and held a 13-4 advantage at the half. It was 19-8 going into the third quarter.
O.J. Newburn led the Hornets with 8 points. Ahmad Adams and Darrick Rose each scored 4.
We were really good defensively,” noted BMS coach Heath Long. “There were two quarters where we held them without a basket.
“On the offensive end, we did a better job of getting the tempo up where we want it, but we are still not as aggressive as I would like,” he continued. “We need to be tougher and impose our will on the other team so we can get them into foul trouble and get to the line a little more often.”
In the B game, Bryant White surged to a 16-4 lead in the first half. Max Hooten led the Hornets with 10 points. Hudson Trusty and Gage Stark added 8 each.
“We did a good job of being aggressive on offense and limited their opportunities in the paint defensively,” Long said. “We had good effort, and it was a good win for our B team.”
