The Bryant School Board met last night, March 11, to discuss interim leadership for the district. By unanimous vote, the Board named Dr. Fred Dawson as interim superintendent.
Dr. Dawson has 22 years of experience as a superintendent in Arkansas, serving Yellville, Mountain Home and the Bauxite school districts. He has also served as the interim superintendents of the Bauxite and Benton school districts.
“Dr. Dawson is an experienced educational leader. He has the skills and experience needed to help lead the district during this time,” said Rhonda Sanders, board president.
The Board remains committed to ensuring the district’s mission of motivating, challenging and educating Bryant students is realized.
The selection of Dr. Dawson followed a unanimous vote of the board on March 10, to suspend Randy Rutherford with pay as superintendent. The district cannot make any additional comments concerning the suspension of Rutherford as it remains a personnel matter, which is confidential.
Dr. Dawson will be available for staff, parents and community leaders over the coming days.
