Dr. Fred Dawson, interim superintendent of the Bryant School District, issued this statement today:
“A news story on KATV Channel 7 in Little Rock on Tuesday evening reported that we had not responded to a Freedom of Information request concerning credit card use and construction documents. The Prosecuting Attorney had also requested these documents as part of a criminal investigation based on audit findings. We were unsure if we could release these documents to KATV because of the ongoing criminal investigation by the Prosecuting Attorney.
“After discussions with the Prosecuting Attorney’s office, our school attorney, and Channel 7, we have released the documents requested.
“We always want to prudently act in the best interest of our school district and seek legal advice for the district’s protection. We also want to communicate and provide as much information as possible to our parents and community when we do not have legal limitations.”
