CABOT — Devon Davis won the 800-meter run to highlight the effort of the Bryant Hornets freshman team at the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference track championship on Thursday.
The Hornets finished fifth overall with 75.5 points. Lake Hamilton won the team title with 136.5 points. Conway Blue was second 100 followed by Cabot South (98.5) and Conway White (78). Cabot North was sixth (58), North Little Rock seventh (50) and Benton eighth (29.5).
Davis won in a time of 2:09.89. Teammate John Carder was fourth in 2:22.34 as the Hornets picked up 15 points in the event. Carder was also fourth in the 1600 with a time of 5:06.56. Davis added points in the long jump. His 18’11” was good for a tie for third.
Madre Dixon accounted for 14 points with a second-place finish in the shot with a toss of 43’5” and a third in the discus with a throw of 120’2”.
In addition, Malik Dockery earned a second-place finish in the 400, turning in a 54.74.
Kaleb Turner cleared 5’4” in the high jump to finish fourth while Brandon Harris ran a 12.15 to place seventh in the 100. Jacob Loomis was seventh in the 110 hurdles for the Hornets, finishing in 17.78.
In the relays, Bryant’s quartet in the 4×400 finished second in 3:50.60. The 4×100 team turned in a 47.05 to place third. In the 4×800, Bryant’s foursome took fourth in 9:36.38.
