Due to the extremely high fire danger in the lower two-thirds of Arkansas including Bryant and Saline County, there is a mandatory fire ban on all outdoor flames.
That also includes grilling.[more]
"Right now, the fire index danger is really high because of the low humidity, wind and lack of rain," said Bryant assistant fire chief Brandon Futch. "We want to warn everybody to avoid burning anything outside right now. I know people are able to grill, but with everything the way it is, if they can avoid that at all costs, they need to do that too."
The ban will continue until there is an ample rain which, according the state forecast, could be as late as next Thursday.
Meanwhile, temperatures are lowering into the cool fall 60’s and lows in the 50’s for this weekend and the inspiration to build a bonfire or have an open-pit flame could entice some.
However, Futch reiterates, "The ban is for any flames outside."
