In a unanimous decision, the Bryant City Council passed approval of a contract for administrative services and management costs for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) that will fund[more] the upgrades to city buildings that use Entergy.
"This is a contract that the money is for them to do their part of the work," Mayor Larry Mitchell said. "It comes out to no cost to the city and we had to approve the contract to move forward to receive the grant money."
The grant will be used for upgrading lighting and the HVAC at City Hall and other buildings. The grant is $275,000.
Currently, City Hall, the animal control building and the old Parks and Recreation building on Northeast Second Street in Bryant are the three buildings that are applicable for the grant money.
The general scope of the services provide by the administrator, which is Winrock, are to perform all necessary services provided with the EECBG through the Arkansas Energy Office. It includes procurement, financial management, contract management, labor compliance, general reporting requirements and closeout.
The fee charged for the administrative services is $25,009, which is not charged to the city.
The project will consist of three stages: start-up, construction and closeout. Phase 1 and Phase 2 cost $11,254.05 and Phase 3 is $2,500.90.
