The Conway Blue Wampus Cats eighth grade team rallied from a 27-24 deficit going into the fourth quarter to forge a 43-35 win over the Bryant White Hornets of Bryant Middle School Tuesday night.
At Conway on Nov. 19, the Cats topped the Hornets 52-46.
“We did get off to a better start than last time and played a little better than we did,” stated Hornets coach Heath Long. “We defended them well in the first half and did a good job of keeping them out of transition.”
Bryant trailed 7-5 after a quarter but pushed out to an 18-13 lead by halftime.
“In the second half, they turned it into more of an up-and-down game and we struggled with their athleticism,” Long said.
Jake Forst and Tristan Calhoun led the Hornets with 7 points each. Brooks Ellis finished with 5, Grayson Prince and Brandon Hill 4 each.
Now 2-2, the Hornets are set to play Lighthouse Charter of Jacksonville on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
