Conference season begins tonight for teams in Class 7A and 6A including the Bryant teams in one of the leagues that include teams from both divisions, the Central. And it’s one of those 6A conference rivals that will be visiting the Hornets Nest tonight when Greenwood comes to town.
The Hornets are coming off a 54-53 win over the rival Benton Panthers and the Lady Hornets, likewise, enters the game after whipping the Lady Panthers, 48-32.
Tonight’s game will count towards a conference championship but will not count towards each team making their respective State Tournaments. Like last season, only the games against conference teams in the same classification will go towards determining whether a team qualifies for State.
Class 7A and Class 6A schools will not be playing in mixed conference next year.
