On Saturday, Oct. 20, the Bryant Buccaneers defeated the Bryant Patriots 26-20 to win the Bryant Athletic Association first and second grade youth football league. The Buccaneers finished the season, undefeated at 7-0-1.
Players for the Bucs include Addison Bray, Canyon Calhoun, Ryan Damboise, Cooper Davis, Cole Ferguson, Eli Hill, Austin Ledbetter, Joshua Martin, Austin Morrison, Justin Orender, Jarrett Rhodes, Austin Schroeder, Turner Seelinger, Garrett Snellings, Hayden Thompson, and Gavin Wright. The Buccaneers came back from a 20-6 deficit in the second half to win in thrilling fashion.
After the Buccaneers opened the game going three-and-out, the Patriots took over after a punt put together a drive for a touchdown, adding a two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead.
The Bucs answered with a scoring drive of their own but failed to add the two-point conversion, leaving the Patriots up 8-6.
And the Patriots again scored in response but, this time, failed on the conversion to make it 14-6 at the half.
The Patriots got the ball first in the second half and extended the lead with another touchdown. When the conversion failed, it was 20-6.
On the ensuing possession, the Bucs started their comeback with a touchdown drive that included a successful two-point conversion.
They then forced the Patriots to punt and, in turn, drove for a tying touchdown. The Bucs were unable to add the extra point.
The Patriots were stopped on fourth down, moments later, and the Bucs took over with time running out.In fact, with less than a minute to go, the Bucs found the end zone again to take the 26-20 lead.
The Patriots’ bid to answer ran out of time as the Bucs captured the title, finishing the season by outscoring their opponents, 135-71.
