As identified in the grant agreement, Bryant Parks will host several major events throughout 2014 including a wheelchair basketball league (June), archery league and tournament (July and September), as well as a Veteran’s 5K (July and August) geared for both abled and disabled patrons in the community.
The money secured by the grant will be used to purchase equipment needed to facilitate year-round activities, including:
- Six (6) basketball wheelchairs
- One (1) Digital Race Clock
- One (1) Time Machine Road Race Timing System
- Ten (10) 36” Foam Archery Targets
- Ten (10) Genesis Bows
- One (1) 28” Fiberglass Arrows Package (72 Ct.)
“We are very excited to host such progressive and versatile activities here in our community,” said Brandon Griffin, Recreation Superintendent for the City of Bryant. “Programs like these increase the breadth of our wellness in the city and further our mission to serve all demographics of society.”
While the programs will be geared toward Veterans and Paralympic athletes, any able-bodied athletes are encouraged to participate in any and all events. All activity fees for all Veteran registrants are completely free for selected programming including 5K races, archery events, and leagues.
