SHERIDAN — In a dual match at Sheridan Country Club, the Bryant Hornets golf team eased to victory behind a nine-hole round of 36 by Drew Castleberry.
The Hornets finished with a team total of 159 to Sheridan’s 172. Both teams’ JV squads played and the Lady Hornets got in a round with no one playing for Sheridan.
Castleberry was individual medalist, edging Sheridan’s Griffin Smith and Jared Sparks by three strokes. The Hornets got three rounds of 41 from Chase Thornton, Luke Brantley and Logan Moore, each beating out the next best score for Sheridan, Logan Hale’s 45.
Bryant’s Peyton Sharp carded a 48. For the JV squad, Nick Canale shot a 43, Tanner Caton finished at 46 and Zach Byars shot 48.
The Lady Hornets were led by Peyton Weaver’s round of 37. Savanna Cathey shot 39 and Abigail McGhee turned in a 43. In addition, Katy Edwards turned in a 52 and Tiffany Robinson carded a 53.
The Hornets have one more regular-season match at Hurricane Creek Golf Club on Thursday, Sept. 26. Meanwhile, the Lady Hornets will be tuning up for the Class 7A State Tournament at Lost Springs Country Club in Rogers, Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
The boys State Tournament will be on the same course, Oct. 7-8.
