ROGERS — Bryant Hornets sophomore Drew Castleberry earned all-State honors, matching his first-day round of 78 to finish tied for fifth overall at the Class 7A State golf championships at Lost Springs Golf Club.
As a team, the Hornets improved their first-day total of 339 with a 328 but they were unable to move up in the standings, finishing sixth. Fayetteville won the team title with a two-day total of 621. Bentonville was second at 631 followed by Springdale Har-Ber (651), Conway (654) and Little Rock Catholic (658). Bryant’s 667 tied with Cabot with Rogers at 682.
Logan Moore turned in the second best score for the Hornets over the two days, finishing at 167 by matching Castleberry’s 78 on Wednesday. Nick Canale was third at 172 with Chase Thornton fourth at 174, turning in a round of 84 on Wednesday. Luke Brantley shot 88 to finish at 183.
Castleberry’s round was highlighted by birdies on the third hole and the 13th, both par-5’s. But he struggled at the end with bogies on the last three holes.
Fayetteville’s Luke Long won the individual title with an even par 144 for the two days. Bentonville’s Jack Robertson was second at 148 followed by Northside’s Chris Eckes (152) and Har-Ber’s Conner Neil (153). Fayetteville’s Mason Adams matched Castleberry’s 156
