CLARKSVILLE — Arkansas Baptist High School baseball standout and recent graduate Evan Castleberry[more] of Bryant will continue his baseball career at the University of the Ozarks, it was announced by Ozarks’ head baseball coach Jimmy Clark.
Castleberry, a second baseman, hit a team-high .353 with five doubles and eight RBI en route to earning All-Conference his senior season. He also led the club with 24 hits and 20 runs. He had eight multiple-hit games during the season, including a pair of 3-for-4 performances. He earned the team’s Total Release Award and received the National Student Scholar Award for baseball.
“Evan has a nice swing and should be able to adjust to college pitching early,” said Clark. “His bat is his biggest asset and he is a smart baseball player. He was also an effective relief pitcher. He is a great fit for our program and our university.”
He plays summer league baseball for the Diamond Baseball Club.
He is the son of Doug and Viki Castleberry of Bryant. He is the grandson of Kenneth and Judy Castleberry and Herman and Bertie Mullings of Hot Springs.
He received a Dean’s Scholarship to Ozarks and will pursue a business degree.
The Eagles compete in the 14-team American Southwest Conference, one of the largest and premier intercollegiate athletic conferences in NCAA Division III.
