BENTON – Central Arkansas Development Council’s Single Parent Scholarship Fund (SPSF)[more] is accepting applications in Saline County. The deadline to apply July 1, 2013.
The SPSF program provides scholarships to low-income single parents who are pursuing a college education. Funds are used to offset financial situations that may keep a single parent from achieving their educational goals. Full time students may receive $500 per semester; part-time students may receive $250 per semester.

Potential applicants must return a completed application, 3 letters of recommendation, a current transcript of all completed courses, and a goal statement. Applicants must be at 125% of the federal poverty level, which for a family of two is $1615.63 monthly. Applicants must also have custodial care of a child under the age of 18, be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study, with the exception of candidates for the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree, and maintain a 2.5 GPA.
