CABOT — The Bryant Hornets soccer team suffered another[more] heartbreaking loss Tuesday night.
The Cabot Panthers scored the game’s only goal with around 12 minutes left in the second half and the Hornets absorbed their fourth 1-0 loss of the season.
Now 7-8-1 overall and 2-4 in the 7A/6A-Central Conference, the Hornets complete the first round of league play this Thursday when they host North Little Rock.
Bryant had a chance to pull even with Cabot in fourth place in the conference with a victory but now trail the Panthers by two.
“We fought hard the last 12 minutes and had some close ones but could not get one to go in,” said Hornets head coach Jason Hay. “It was another close, tough loss for us but we will keep fighting.”
Only two of the Hornets’ losses this season — to Little Rock Catholic (5-2) and Russellville (3-1), the two top teams in the conference — have been by more than one goal so a turnaround in fortunes the second half of the league season remains within reach.
