Jeanne Thomas of Bryant High School was among six area Junior ROTC cadets to receive JROTC medals and certificates from the Baseline-Meridian Chapter of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812 (U.S.D. 1812) recently.
Others who were honored included Sabrina Trammell of Malvern High School; Kayla Williams of Hot Springs High School; Xena N. Kimble of Hope High School; Janet Pyl of Benton High School and Tiara Burgess of Arkadelphia High School.
The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a Federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools across the United States and United States military bases across the world. Citizenship, leadership, character and community service are the core tenets of high school JROTC programs.
U.S.D. 1812 honors cadets were noted for demonstrating the qualities of Academic Excellence, Leadership, Military discipline, Dependability, Patriotism and upright character in speech and habits, which exemplify the ideals upon which the Nation was founded.
