HOT SPRINGS — Bryant’s Mike Lee has been named the co-recipient of the 2012-13 Class 7A[more] Athletic Director of the Year at the Athletic Administrators Winter Conference.
Voting for the award finished in a tie between Lee and Bentonville’s Scott Passmore.
In other classifications, the honors went to:
6A – John Utley, Lake Hamilton
5A and Overall AD of the Year– Stephen Wood, Greenbrier
4A – Brian Little, Gentry
3A – Marc Davis, Fountain Lake
2A – Michael Carter, Conway Christian
1A – Charles Brown, Armorel
Janet Wood, Athletic Director at Mountain Home and publicity chair of the AHSAAA, said of Lee, “Mike just completed two years as Athletic Director at Bryant after a stellar career as a football and baseball coach and pro baseball scout. Mike’s primary accomplishments would include successful hosting of various state and conference tournaments, and being an active participant in planning and procedures with regards to the Salt Bowl football game between Bryant and Benton – one of the highest attended high school events in the state. Mike is also an inaugural member of the Bryant Hall of Honor Board of Directors.
Said Lee, “I am flattered by this honor and hopefully I represent the Bryant District in a way that sheds a positive light on the people that make it possible for me to receive this. Our district administrators, district maintenance, coaches, student-athletes, boosters, parents and corporate/civic sponsors are the enablers that allow Bryant Athletics to transcend to a premium level and I am most proud to be a part of this.”
All Athletic Director of the Year recipients will receive their plaques at the Athletic Administrators Luncheon on Thursday, June 20, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Conway.
