CABOT — The Bryant Lady Hornets junior varsity softball team returned to action on Monday with a doubleheader against the Cabot Lady Panthers JV. Cabot won the first game 4-3 but Bryant won the second 14-3.
In the first game, the Lady Hornets grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first when Callie Bradley scored on Regan Keesee’s single and Brooklyn Trammell knocked in Keesee with a base hit.
Cabot took a 3-2 lead with three unearned runs in the third only to have Bryant tie it up in the fourth on Keeley Allen’s RBI hit, driving in Gabbie Bonvillain.
But the Lady Panthers eked out a run in the bottom of the fifth to win it.
Shelby Stuckey pitched for Bryant and only gave up one earned run.
In the second game, a two-run homer by Meagan Chism got the Lady Hornets started on the right foot. Bradley, who had singled, scored on the blast. Trammell and Daphne Overbey kept the inning going with singles then both scored on Lexi Helton’s double to make it 4-0.
Cabot scored a run in the bottom of the first but Bryant added two in the second. Bradley singled again and scored on a hit by Keesee. Trammell doubled her home.
After Cabot picked up another run, the Lady Hornets added on in the fourth. Overbey singled in Keesee. Bonvillain singled and followed Overbey home on Aly Bowers’ base knock. After taking second on an error, Bowers sprinted home on a single by Hennessae Shavers.
Bryant completed its scoring in the fifth when Keesee singled on a hit by Bonvillain. Bowers had another RBI single as well.
Chism pitched the first four innings and Helton finished up for the Lady Hornets who are scheduled to play today at Benton Harmony Grove.
