LITTLE ROCK — Bryant freshman Brenden Everhart earned all-conference honors and qualified for the Class 7A State Tournament with a three singles wins on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The Central Conference tournament was held at Rebsaman Park.
Everhart was the lone Bryant player to advance past the first round. He defeated North Little Rock’s Chase Bevins in the first round, 6-2, 6-3. Though he lost to Little Rock Catholic’s Myers Simpson in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 3-6, he earned the bid to State, which will be held Oct. 20-21, at Burns Park in North Little Rock, by defeating Van Buren’s Dylan Killough 6-0, 6-2, in the consolation round. Everhart then knocked off Alex Brown of Catholic 6-1, 6-2, to finish fifth in the tourney.
Also in boys singles, Bryant’s Tyler Melton played, suffering a 0-6, 0-6 loss to Van Buren’s Braydon Montgomery in the first round.
In girls singles, Little Rock Central’s Meredith Headlee defeated Bryant’s Megan Ivie, 6-0, 6-0 while Conway’s Alexis Rogers won 6-0, 6-3 over Bryant’s Kristen Walker.
In doubles, the boys team of Wilson Hatcher and Zach Gaines lost to Van Buren’s Houston Anderson and Kyle Porter 1-6, 4-6. Bryant’s duo of Walker Creighton and Haydon Brown fell to Van Buren’s Ty Dunn and Brett Dunn, 1-6, 1-6.
The girls pairing of Jayda Allen and Taylor Scifres lost to Conway’s Andrea Moore and Paten Denton 0-6, 0-6, while Stephanie Smith and Feniece Boone were defeated by the Mount St. Mary team of Madison Roberts and Hannah Lukacs 1-6, 3-6.
