On Monday, Dec. 16, the Bryant White Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School managed to get past the Bryant Blue Hornets of Bethel Middle School, 36-27, at the Bethel gym.
White broke out to a 13-9 lead in the first quarter and stretched the margin to 25-14 by halftime. It was 30-20 going into the fourth quarter.
Tristan Calhoun led Bryant White with 9 points. JonLuke Sprout had 7, Kaevon Jones 6 with Jake Forst and Grayson Prince scoring 5 each.
For Bryant Blue, Sam Chumley scored 12 points, Malcomb Moody 8. Luke Curtis and Diante Woodson added 3 each.
“We got off to a really good start,” acknowledged Bryant White coach Heath Long. “I’d like for us to come out with more energy than what we did in the third quarter but, overall, we did a pretty good job for the most part.”
The two teams will meet again on Jan. 21, 2014. Bryant White is off now until a Jan. 6 date at Conway White. The next outing for Bryant Blue is scheduled for Jan. 7 at Cabot North.
