The Bryant White Hornets seventh grade A and B teams earned victories on Tuesday night over[more] their respective counterparts from Conway’s White team. In the A game, the Hornets eked out a 27-25 win. In the B game, Bryant White prevailed 27-21.
The A team withstood a late 9-0 run by Conway to hand on for the win. The Wampus Kittens had a 4-0 lead after the first quarter but Bryant surged to lead 9-6 at the half. It was 19-16 in favor of the Hornets going into the fourth quarter.
Romen Martin and Beaux Bonvillain led Bryant White with 10 points each. Hayden Knowles finished with 5.
“We are doing a much better job of executing and that’s something that we have to keep improving on,” commented Bryant coach Heath Long. “When they went on that 9-0 run late in the game, they actually took the lead by 2 points. But our guys were able to regroup and score the next two baskets to take the lead back for good.
“We have to work hard to eliminate the mental errors that lead to those kinds of runs,” he added.
In the B game, John Winston paced the Hornets with 6 points. Jonathan Allen and Dalton Daniels added 4 each.
Bryant White held a 17-8 lead at the half.
The Hornets are scheduled to return to action at The Anthony School on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
