The Bryant White Hornets eighth grade football team of Bryant Middle School improved to 3-0 on the season with a 26-6 win over the Little Rock Pulaski Heights Panthers at Bryant Stadium Tuesday night.
Bryant White’s Ahmad Adams returned a fumble 19 yards for a touchdown to account for the first touchdown.
Later, quarterback Derrick Rose completed a 42-yard pass to Catrell Wallace, which set up another completion between them for a 9-yard touchdown.
Austin Bailey recovered a fumble for the Hornets that led to a 5-yard touchdown run by Rose who then passes to Gage Stark for the two-point conversion.
Jace Freeman completed the scoring with a 15-yard TD burst.
“I thought we played well,” said Hornets coach Brad Smothermon. “We were still not breaking down and tackling like we need to but we got better as the game went on.
“(Pulaski Heights) fumbled and we took advantage and only had one turnover ourselves, which was an interception deep in their territory,” he added. “Other than that, I thought we played hard. We just have to keep getting better every day.”
The Hornets will play again on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at home against Cloverdale of Little Rock.
