RUSSELLVILLE — The Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School put together a late push to extract a 28-21 win over the Russellville Lady Whirlwinds Tuesday night, keeping their season record unblemished.
The Lady Hornets are now 11-0 going into a game at Cabot North this Thursday.
The Bryant White seventh grade team also earned a close victory, 21-19.
“Both games were close and tight all the way to the final buzzer,” related Lady Hornets coach Kenny Hays. “Our seventh girls team trailed 8-0 at the end of the first quarter and came back to win on a buzzer shot by Jaiyah Jackson.
“Our eighth-grade girls team had to turn up the pressure in the last three minutes of the fourth quarter to secure their victory.
Kristyn Weng led the seventh grade team with 8 points. Jackson added 6, Kaitlyn Weng 5 and Alexandra Rose 2.
For the eighth grade, Celena Martin pumped in 13 points. Ivory Russ finished with 7, Tierra Trotter 5 and Tiyanna Robinson 3.
