After a three-week layoff, the Bryant White Hornets seventh grade team of Bryant Middle[more] School broke out to a 10-2 lead over the Cabot South Panthers and never looked back on the way to a 34-16 win at the BMS gym Tuesday.
Tristan Calhoun led the team with 12 points. Grayson Prince added 7, Brandon Hopkins 5 and Jon Luke Sprout 4.
“I was a little concerned about how we might play with this being our first game in about three weeks but we came out and played our best game of the year,” said Bryant White coach Heath Long. “We did an excellent job defensively and did a better job than we have all year executing our offense. Tristan did a great job of getting into the heart of their defense and made good decisions with the basketball as well.”
The Hornets led 16-11 at the half then rolled to an 11-2 third quarter as they pulled away.
Now 3-1 on the season, the team returns to action at Lake Hamilton on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
